The issue

Petition to Charters Towers Regional Council CEO.
Call to Action:
We ask the council CEO Karina Ewer to remove the enforcement notice as it is unlawful. (ref letter 20/08/2007 from CEO John Wehlow to Mr C Archer) The letter from the CEO was requested by Mr Archer to
ensure the new owner B&N Kruger has continued existing rights to use the property for Commercial and Industrial use without the requirement for an MCU.
Problem:
Forcing the immediate closure of the core business has caused a loss of employment for four young men. It has caused the business to lose 75% of it's income, which will quickly cause insolvency, liquidation or
bankruptcy. If the business has to close due to bankruptcy then the site will not be developed as planned, instead it will become another derelict and unusable building in the town.
Bits For Cars (formerly Drurys Auto electrical and Archers Auto parts) has been operating at this location for 44 years and has over 2000 regular customers and over 6500 total customers. Immediate forced closure of
this business will cause considerable backlash from the community and will not be helpful for the image of the Charters Towers Regional council.
Solution: We ask that council IMMEDIATELY stop bullying our small business community and start cooperating and help our community prosper and encourage growth not stagnation.
Recognise that Bits for cars has existing “commercial and industrial rights” to use the property as it has for the past 44 years.
We ask that Karina Ewer resign as CEO, this type of leadership we don't need in Charters Towers
