Save Birdland Pool from Closure

Save Birdland Pool from Closure
The Issue
Birdland Pool has long been a beacon of our Northside community, a pulse of life nestled next to the river. Recently, our city proposed shutting down this beloved landmark, citing the costs of maintenance and operations as the main reasons. But the question this raises is larger than dollars and cents: why are we deciding to take something so vital away from a neighborhood that so sorely needs it?
The river's unpredictability has unfortunately led to drownings in our area. The presence of Birdland Pool does more than just provide a safe space for swimming; it provides a crucial service to our community by offering swim instruction. Without it, we fear that the loss of such a resource might lead to more tragedies in the river next door.
The city's financial concerns are understandable but closing Birdland Pool is not the solution. Instead, let's explore other alternatives that can keep this community pool open and our neighbourhood's children safe.
We ask the city to retract their proposal and work with us to find a safe and financially viable solution to keep Birdland Pool open. Please sign our petition to show your support for this cause. Together, as a community, we can save our pool and our peace of mind.
