Belladonna Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit farmed animal rescue and sanctuary located on the outskirts of West Lafayette, Indiana. Belladonna is the home to several rescued animals, including pigs, sheep, bunnies, cats, guinea pigs, and a cow.

On August 1st Belladonna received a letter from the Area Plan Commission of Tippecanoe County. This letter states that Belladonna would need to go through a rezoning process in order to continue operating. This process will take approximately 4 months and will cost us over $1,000.

Belladonna has been operating and saving animals since 2020. It was not until July 2023 that one person decided that they did not like what we were doing here at Belladonna and set out to do everything in their power to shut us down. Should we not go through with the rezoning process, it is a possibility that the animals at Belladonna can be seized and their futures will be uncertain.

Most of the animals at Belladonna came from terrible abuse and neglect. Others were surrendered by loving owners so that they never had to ensure abuse and neglect.  For many of them, Belladonna is the only loving home they have ever known. We cannot let them down. Please help us in our fight to rezone Belladonna and continue being a loving forever home to abused and neglected animals.

Next steps: we must apply to re-zone our land for agricultural use, and then file a special exception request to continue operating as an animal sanctuary and keep our residents safe. We are taking the necessary steps to achieve this, but we need additional support from all of you!
