The Issue

As a child, learning to ride a bike was a threshold into a new world of exploration and adventure. Jumping and skimming on two wheels offered freedom, excitement and a chance to learn early life lessons about perseverance, hard work, and consistent practice. Today, that same opportunity to foster personal growth is threatened with the impending destruction of the Bees Lake Bike Park.

This place is more than just a bike park. It's a community cornerstone, integral to many local and visiting BMX cyclists, and a nurturing environment for youth to learn and grow. Losing Bees Lake Bike Park would not only impact the local cyclists but also rip away an essential part of our shared community spirit.

Recent studies have shown that outdoor activities like BMX riding contribute positively to physical and mental health, with increased physical activity leading to better overall health and cognitive development in young adults and children (Outdoor Foundation, 2018). Without Bees Lake Bike Park, we would be denying our youth this benefit.

We believe that the need to preserve our local treasures and continue nurturing our community spirit outweighs redevelopment plans. We call upon the local government and development planners to reconsider their actions and instead invest in maintaining and improving Bees Lake Bike Park.

Sign the petition to save the Bees Lake Bike Park - a step forward to preserve a favorite outdoor spot and safeguard an integral part of our community and personal growth for the youth.
