Bashar Al-Belbeisi est un jeune danseur-chorégraphe de Gaza. Invité avec sa troupe, al-Foursan, par la ville de Trappes (Yvelines) avec la ville de Corbeil-Essonne, La MIR et l’association les amis du théâtre de la liberté de Jénine, il devait se rendre en France pour une résidence artistique et présenter un spectacle conçu autour du dabké, la danse nationale palestinienne. Il est aussi inscrit à l'Université de Rennes en Arts du spectacle option théâtre.
Lundi dernier (30 juin), Bashar et quelques membres de sa troupe s’étaient retrouvés au café Al-Baqa de Gaza. En quelques secondes, un bombardement israélien -sans raison ni avertissement- transforme cette paisible baraque en bord de mer où se retrouvaient jeunes, artistes et intellectuels en une scène d’horreur : 24 morts, les dizaines de survivants tous blessés plus ou moins touchés. Parmi eux, Bashar, gravement blessé aux jambes, os éclatés et de nombreuses fractures ouvertes.
Voici 16 jours qu’il est soigné à l’hôpital al-Shifa, une des rares structures médicales encore debout où médecins et chirurgiens opèrent dans un dénuement total manquant de tout : sang, antiseptiques, antalgiques,… et réalisent des miracles ! Les blessures de Bashar sont stabilisées mais nécessitent des soins que ce malheureux hôpital ne peut fournir.
Il faut que Bashar soit immédiatement évacué vers une structure orthopédique où il pourra être correctement pris en charge, sinon c’est l’infection et l’amputation. Un drame dont toute la vie s’est construite autour de la danse !
Bashar à seulement 25 ans est pharmacien, danseur d’exception, chorégraphe et cinéaste. Depuis le début des bombardements il utilise ses talents comme travailleur social prenant en charge les enfants et jeunes adultes en situation de trauma utilisant son art en thérapie dans les camps de réfugiés à Gaza. Il a participé avec sa troupe al-Foursan à l’inscription du dabké palestinien au patrimoine culturel de l'humanité de l'UNESCO.
Bashar dispose de liens très étroits avec la France. Il est co-fondateur de Foursan Friends France au côté de Sabrina Biokou-Sellier, association située à Lucé (Eure et Loir, France) soutenue par l’Union juive française pour la Paix (UJFP). Un projet d’envergure exceptionnel artistique, culturel et humanitaire. Il est également intervenu avec 3 autres danseurs dans une tournée française d’avant-premières du film de Roland Nurier « Yallah Gaza » organisée par l’UJFP et l’AFPS (Association France-Palestine Solidarité) à l’été 2023. Il est aussi inscrit à l'Université de Rennes en Arts du spectacle option théâtre.
La France doit soigner et protéger Bashar ainsi que sa troupe, et leur permettre de réaliser leur projet artistique dont nous bénéficierons.
Nous avons déposé plusieurs demandes d’évacuation sanitaire urgentes au consulat de France à Jérusalem ; des actions collectives sont en cours avec plusieurs associations pour les appuyer.
Il faut faire évacuer Bashar au plus vite pour le soigner !

Bashar Al-Belbeisi is a young dancer-choreographer from Gaza. Invited with his troupe, al-Foursan, by the city of Trappes (Yvelines), along with the city of Corbeil-Essonne, La MIR, and the Friends of the Jenin Freedom Theater association, he was due to travel to France for an artistic residency and present a show based around dabke, the Palestinian national dance. He is also enrolled at the University of Rennes in Performing Arts, theater option.
Last Monday (June 30), Bashar and a few members of his troupe met at the Al-Baqa café in Gaza. In a matter of seconds, an Israeli bombardment—without reason or warning—transformed this peaceful seaside shack, where young people, artists, and intellectuals gathered, into a scene of horror: 24 dead, with dozens of survivors all more or less injured. Among them was Bashar, who suffered serious leg injuries, shattered bones, and numerous open fractures.
He has been treated for 16 days at al-Shifa Hospital, one of the few medical facilities still standing, where doctors and surgeons operate in complete destitution, lacking everything: blood, antiseptics, painkillers, etc., and perform miracles! Bashar's injuries are stabilized but require care that this unfortunate hospital cannot provide.
Bashar must be immediately evacuated to an orthopedic facility where he can receive proper care, otherwise he risks infection and amputation. A tragedy whose entire life has been built around dance!
Bashar, only 25 years old, is a pharmacist, an exceptional dancer, a choreographer, and a filmmaker. Since the beginning of the bombings, he has used his talents as a social worker, caring for children and young adults in trauma situations, using his art as therapy in refugee camps in Gaza. He and his al-Foursan troupe participated in the registration of Palestinian dabke as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bashar has very close ties with France. He is the co-founder of Foursan Friends France with Sabrina Biokou-Sellier, an association located in Lucé (Eure-et-Loir, France), supported by the French Jewish Union for Peace (UJFP). This is an exceptionally large-scale artistic, cultural, and humanitarian project. He also participated with three other dancers in a French tour of preview screenings of Roland Nurier's film "Yallah Gaza," organized by the UJFP and the AFPS (France-Palestine Solidarity Association) in the summer of 2023. He is also enrolled at the University of Rennes in Performing Arts, theater option.
France must care for and protect Bashar and his troupe, and allow them to carry out their artistic project, which will benefit us.
We have submitted several urgent requests for medical evacuation to the French consulate in Jerusalem; collective actions are underway with several associations to support them.
Bashar must be evacuated as quickly as possible for treatment!
