Save Astley Court!

Save Astley Court!
The Issue
Astley Court is home to around 50 vulnerable residents in our community, who are supported to live with independence with 24 hour onsite care staff. It is first and foremost a home and workplace, not a 'facility' or a 'scheme', but a community of residents and staff who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
Irlam and Cadishead is a tight-nit community. We look out for one another, and for many residents at Astley Court, this community is where they have spent their whole lives - their family, friends, and social circles are all in Irlam and Cadishead.
At Astley Court, people from all walks of life have found sanctuary, security, and belonging. The staff care for residents as much as they care for their own flesh and blood, and residents and families speak highly of Astley Court as their home with a strong, clear, and coherent community voice.
We the undersigned demand, that:
• The decision to close Astley Court without any local alternative being made available is immediately reversed.
• Residents of Astley Court and their families and advocates are treated with respect and their voices heard.
• Staff of Astley Court are treated with respect and their voices heard.
• That no resident of Astley Court should be forced to move away from Irlam and Cadishead against their will.
• No resident should be forced to move somewhere that can not meet their care needs.
• That ForHousing meet with local councillors, council officers, resident representatives, and union officers as soon as possible.
