Save Ashford from losing its essential services! Constables and Trash.
The Issue
For many years, I have called Ashford our home. It's a place where community and peace go hand in hand, where neighbors look out for each other, and where we have access to services that ensure our lifestyle remains the one we love. Recently, however, there have been discussions and proposals that threaten the very fabric of our town’s daily operations.
Ashford is facing potential changes that could see the elimination of our local Constable services and the transition from private to municipal trash collection. These services are critical to our community’s wellbeing and to maintaining the unique character of Ashford.
Our Constable has provided invaluable service, offering not only safety and security but also a familiar face in times of need. The personal connection and sense of trust we have developed with our Constable cannot easily be replaced. Local law enforcement's ability to promptly and personally address our community's concerns distinguishes it from broader, less personalized services.
Furthermore, the proposal to replace our private trash service with municipal trash collection also raises significant concerns. Many residents, including myself, have found the private service to be flexible, reliable, and tailored to our needs. Transitioning to a municipal service may lead to a decrease in quality and an increase in costs, as we may face a standardized approach that doesn’t suit our community's specific requirements.
The proposed changes undermine the independence and personal service that Ashford prides itself on. Instead of sweeping standardization, we should be looking to preserve the elements that make our town special.
I call upon the decision-makers in our community to halt these proposals and engage in a meaningful dialogue with residents. Let us work together to find solutions that will not compromise the services that define our town.
Please join me in taking a stand to keep Ashford's Constable services and private trash collection intact. By signing this petition, you are supporting a collective effort to safeguard the essentials that make Ashford not just a place to live, but a place to call home.
