Dear fellow supporters,
Thank you for signing the petition to save our four community-based childcare centres on the Australian National University (ANU) campus. It's fantastic to see we've achieved over 3,700 signatures so far!
All of the centres are continuing to engage on the matter in hope of changing ANU's decision and to generate broad community support. Among the centres impacted, parents of the University Preschool and Child Care Centre (UPCCC) would like to share the following highlights to date:
UPCCC 'Supporters Toolkit' now available
Parents at UPCCC have developed a comprehensive 'Supporters Toolkit' to support past and current families to continue to share this important message across the community. In this toolkit, you will find:
- key messages
- communication resources, including flyers, social media tiles and personal stories
- a suggested newsletter article, and
- suggested social media posts.
As part of this, a number of interviews have already been held with parents and staff at UPCCC. If you would like to share your story you can email parentsatupccc@gmail.com.
Traditional Media (Print, Television, Online and Radio)
We have successfully secured positive media coverage in print, television, online and radio. Notable coverage is linked below.
We are continuing to work with our local and national media contacts to secure further diverse coverage.
Social Media
Parents at UPCCC have established an Instagram account (@UPCCCmatters) to share information that the community can re-share with their own followers and networks. Please follow this account to see updates.
Stakeholder Engagement
Within ANU we have been making strategic approaches to senior executives and other influential leaders. Beyond ANU we have also been making approaches to a range of leaders, organisations and agencies at the local, national and international level who we believe can advocate on our behalf. We are pleased that we have already hosted the following political representatives and candidates at UPCCC.
- David Pocock, Independent Senator for the ACT
- Alicia Payne, Member for Canberra
- Thomas Emerson, Independents for Canberra Candidate
It may be of interest to know that David Pocock, Alicia Payne and Katy Gallagher have all written to the Vice-Chancellor about our concerns.
We look forward to engaging with you on this journey. If you have any questions please reach out to us via email at: parentsatupccc@gmail.com
Warm regards,
Parents at UPCCC
