Save Animals from homelessness- they have rights too.

The Issue

In Ireland, families have to abandon their pets, which has been part of their lives and family, because they can't find a place to live where landlords accepts pets.

Pets are a vital element not only of any family, but to many the reason to maintain a good mental health, teach our kids what responsibility means, like having another son/daughter any pet can be considered as such

The pound, rescue centers across the country have no hands to measure or enough space to take all the pets being left behind, as family as no choice. Like Portugal and many other countries is it time to have our pets in the law and make it illegal to reject rental accommodation because you have pets.

If furniture is the problem they can always rent without it or make sure it is included within the rental contract clause but deny someone a home for having a pet is a disgrace and shouldn't go unpunished. They are our family too.

According to Dogs Trust Ireland as of February 2023, there has been an 80 per cent increase in the number of people who are forced to give up their dogs due to landlords having a no pet policy in their property.

The dogs trust charity in Ireland has seen 394 surrender requests between Christmas 2022 and the end of January 2023 with one third due to rental accommodation requests.

This is something Ireland Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage has the obligation to step in.
