Please sign the petition to save Central Park!  Urban greenspace is vital to the health and resilience of a community. Does Kenora need more housing? Yes! Does it have to be an urban greenspace? NO!  Central Park has been a park for over 100 years but it has fallen into disrepair due to neglect. In 1895 Mayor Barnes first identified a need for park lands because at the time there was a recognition that sports were necessary for both health and leisure in spectacular sports like baseball and soccer.

Good urban planning incorporates Greenspace, and does not remove it.  Moreover, there are already apartments of high density on First Street.  A WHOLE park revitalisation would benefit the current ratepayers of this neighbourhood by adding an outdoor shelter or splash park, for example.

I formally objected by letter before the City of Kenora Council Meeting March 23, 2021, regarding their decision to:

1. Violate their Official Plan  2. Re-zone urban green space for development 

and thus qualify to appeal these decisions through the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) and submitted $800.  (***Please do NOT donate to this site!
