SAVE AIRBNB IN COLORADO SPRINGS

SAVE AIRBNB IN COLORADO SPRINGS
The Issue
Airbnb (and related sites) are known as Short Term Rentals (STRs) and
. . . they need your support now more than ever.
Vote your right to be able to rent for less than 30 days in Colorado's second biggest city!
Tell City Council that you want your friends and family to stay in a home in the best city in the state!
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
On October 23rd, Colorado Springs City Council voted in an ordinance to allow Short Term Rentals (STRs) and vacation rentals like Airbnb to stay in Colorado Springs.
In 6 months, they're going to meet again to decide the future of STRs in Colorado Springs.
We need YOUR VOTE to tell City Council that Airbnb is an important part of our community!
What will happen at the next meeting?
It's too soon to know.
It's important we keep the conversation positive about all the value that STRs bring to Colorado Springs, and to limit any additional restrictions.
What is this petition for now?
We need YOU to tell City Council that you want:
- The ability to rent in Colorado Springs for less than 30 days.
- That you want to be able to rent homes that may not be occupied by an owner.
That's ALL that this petition is for. Just those 2 things.
Why is this so important?
We all have friends and family that come visit us (hopefully!) and we know that hotels can not only be expensive, but they don't always have the amenities to make home-cooked meals, host holidays, or stay all together in one place.
We want to tell City Council that we want to reserve this right.
Limiting our rights to keep Airbnb in Colorado Springs would cost THOUSANDS of people their "jobs".
Who are those people?
Most of them are women.
Most of the women are stay-at-home Moms or caregivers of family members.
What are we NOT saying?
We are not saying that STRs don't need to be taxed or regulated.
We agree that there should be some regulation, with proper taxes, permitting, and rules set in place for rentals that make the city money.
And by signing this petition, you're just telling City Council to keep the TWO (2) items above top-of-mind, and to not restrict Colorado Springs property owners' rights.
This makes the city money. And creates jobs.
STRs (short term / vacation rentals) and LTRs (long term rentals like any lease) are really only different by the matter of 30 days.
It not only creates jobs for the hosts, but it also gives work to house cleaners, gardeners, handymen, and local businesses that benefit from tourism like restaurants.
We've learned at the last meeting that it brings in at least $1 MILLION dollars in tax revenue to the city. It could be more!
THE FULL SCOOP
The City of Colorado Springs will be meeting in May to continue the discussion on how to regulate Short Term Rentals (STRs) within the city.
It's possible that additional restrictions could proposed by the Council which would result in many (approximately 1,400) private property owners severely restricting their ability to use their personal property.
Please sign this petition if you want to protect private property rights in Colorado Springs and urge the City Council to not further limit STRS.
SIGN NOW to tell City Council how important Airbnb is in our city!
Please share with your friends! Their Airbnb vacation rights are at risk too!
