Since facing eviction I have learnt of a huge number of livery yards and competition venues that have closed or are in the process of closing, just in and around parts of Essex and Hertfordshire. We really do need to raise awareness of the sheer number to the planning departments, equestrian and sporting bodies as well as secure media attention. If the general and local yards continue to disappear it really does challenge the whole equestrian community. Who will our top riders hold clinics for and inspire to be great? Who will provide homes to all the retired racehorses! Where will our future horse mad children develop their talents to progress to become the future household names in this sector?
