After being closed for over two years, the future of Hope Gap beach access is in jeopardy. Seaford Town Council have said the steps leading to the beach may NEVER repaired, effectively shutting off access forever.

The access was originally gifted to the people of Seaford with the promise of maintaining it for local enjoyment and tourist attraction.

Seaford Town Council officers commissioned a structural engineer’s report and had recommended not repairing the steps but since this petition was launched the councillors voted for 6 months of further investigation to look at more options.

Join me in calling on Seaford Town Council to ensure there is a plan for the steps at Hope Gap beach to start being repaired or replaced at the end of this 6 month period. Potentially crowd-funding from the local community or even from all over the world as the view is so globally iconic. Other partners such as the South Downs National Park and the National Trust could also play a part.

Hope Gap has always been a cherished spot for local families — and offers a unique view of one of the most iconic views in the world. The joy it brings is immeasurable.

This is about more than just access. It’s about preserving our unique heritage for future generations.
