Save a neglected balcony-bound corgi
The Issue
For the last three years, I have witnessed a heart wrenching realization from the balcony of my condo in Serangoon. A corgi, able bodied dog, is confined to its balcony every single day and night. Rain or shine, this poor dog sits exposed to the elements, barking and whining incessantly, as if pleading for relief from its distressing conditions.
This corgi's world is limited to a small balcony. It paces back and forth, unable to experience the basic joys of a dog’s life.
No walks, no fresh grass under its paws, and no interaction with other dogs. Like clockwork, it has learned to live within its confined, unsanitary space, forced to relieve itself in the very place it eats and sleeps.
Three years of torture accumulates under its paws, with rare instances of cleanup that only come reluctantly after my under-valued concern.
Direct contact and concern to the owner has been established with multiple suggestions and solutions provided including caring for the dog but have fallen on deaf ears across the three years. Enough is enough.
Dogs, like humans, require more than just food to survive; they need companionship, cleanliness, and activity to thrive. Corgis, known for their energetic and affectionate nature, suffer greatly when denied these basic necessities. This corgi is not just battling loneliness; it's being denied a decent, humane existence.
This is not just a story of neglect; it’s a call for action. I've called for AVS and NParks to step in and assess the situation. We need the authorities to evaluate the conditions this animal is enduring and to remove the dog, if necessary, to rehome it with someone willing to provide the life it deserves.
The life of this corgi is not just important to me, it should be of concern to all of us. By allowing this to continue, we collectively endorse the mistreatment and negligence of animals who depend on us. This silent plea for help must be answered. Let's not turn a blind eye.
