Every morning, I join countless early commuters at Gosford Station, waiting in the crisp morning air on the congested platform 1. Together, we endure the cold and overcrowding before our journey to Sydney begins. Meanwhile, platform 2/3 stands dormant, and the Gosford Railway Cafe, once bustling with life,—a poignant reminder of the time when commuters had convenient access to a warm drink and a bite to eat, morning, afternoon, and evening.

The decision to minimize services on platform 2/3 has led to a less convenient, less comfortable experience for all of us—a concern that's reflected in the visible drop in foot traffic at the local cafe. This situation isn't just inconvenient; it affects the economic vibrancy of the station community and the daily comfort of commuters like myself.

Restoring regular train services to platforms 2/3 would ease the congestion on platform 1, making the daily commute more pleasant for so many people. It would also breathe life back into the Gosford Railway Cafe, benefiting local commerce and fostering a vibrant community hub.

Statistics show that well-distributed commuter services enhance efficiency, increase overall customer satisfaction, and stimulate local businesses. By reallocating Sydney train services to include platforms 2/3 at Gosford Station, everyone benefits—from the rail network's reliability to the economic health of the area.

Gosford is growing, and our infrastructure should grow with it. We call on the local government and Sydney Trains to re-evaluate the current train platform allocations and restore the previously available service. Platform safety is most compromised in the afternoon period, particularly after 3pm, when in excess of 2,000 schoolchildren congregate alongside regular commuters as school trains arrive and depart.
