I have had enough. I care deeply about the well-being of animals in our community, and watching the current warden of the Clay County Animal Control and Shelter has been disheartening to say the least. Ive observed his lack of compassion, motivation or concern for animals and the shelters wellbeing. This is from a bystander perspective, can you imagine the reality of it. This is a common sentiment shared among many volunteers and the community who cares about the shelter animals and employees, our town and animals deserve better.

The most upsetting part is his reluctance to make any meaningful decisions that could significantly improve the lives of the animals or the shelter's operations. Whether it's doing animal welfare checks, facilitating animal transfers, or initiating much-needed fundraisers, these necessary actions are simply not a priority for him. Moreover, his lack of cooperation and unpleasant demeanor make collaboration nearly impossible, further stifling the shelter's potential.

Our shelter could and should be a place that's proactive and compassionate, a sanctuary where decisions are made not for personal gain, but for the betterment of the animals and the community at large. It's vital to have a leader who not only acknowledges the hard work of others but actively participates and supports initiatives that matter. The goal is to replace the current warden with someone who is dedicated, compassionate, and, above all, eager to make the shelter a thriving place of hope and rescue.
