Traffic Counting - Can you assist?
SAVE 87 Bowden Street Residents' Committee
Jun 23, 2016
We have received a response from Ryde Council regarding traffic counts done in the area. The short answer, there's not enough information for the purposes of a report. We need reports (facts) for our traffic expert’s appearance before the Land & Environment Court in August/September.
So, we need to organise traffic counts for the intersections of Bowden/MacPherson, Bowden/Squire and MacPherson/See Streets. It's not too difficult, we just need people to sit at these locations with a tally sheet counting vehicles going through, those turning left, right etc. in 15 minute blocks of time. We will supply tally sheets for each of these locations you just need to bring a pen, clipboard and chair.
Peak traffic occurs during school terms, so need to have this done before the 1st July and we need am and pm counts. We’ve planned to do the counts next Tuesday 28 June and Thursday 30 June between 7.00am-9.00am and 3.30pm-6.00pm.
Please let us know by email if you can assist for any or all of these 4 sessions? At this time we are short by about 6 people.
On another matter, we've started to take photographs of long traffic queues, vehicles turning blind through traffic, near misses, minor bingles, full car parking, illegal parking etc. So if you see something like this, we'd appreciate photos if possible (smartphone photos are fine). When you send them by email, please note the dates and approximate times of the photo. Obviously we will ensure plates are blacked out for any reports so vehicles are not identifiable, It’s not about getting someone fined, it about documenting the traffic chaos.
If you are available to assist in the traffic counts, please let us know before Monday, 25 June, 2016. Email us now on 87bowdenst@gmail.com
Thank you for your on-going support!
Best regards
