Yesterday (Jan. 14, 2024), the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department (RPD) blindsided the pickleball community with the announcement that they will immediately be removing the rolling nets and repainting tennis courts 3-4 (the south court pod) at Presidio Wall to make them “tennis only” courts.  This will result in the loss of 6 Pickleball courts even as the popularity of pickleball continues to explode.

RPD just completed the Larsen courts, however with the opening of Larsen, it is abundantly clear that Larsen does not attract players away from Presidio and Presidio's popularity has remained undiminished. In fact it is obvious that pickleball is the most rapidly expanding sport in San Francisco and we need MORE pickleball courts, not LESS.

Please sign this petition to delay any changes to Presidio Wall until a proper neighborhood notification and outreach process has been conducted and mutually accepted alternatives are in place.
