SAVE 517 Madison St. (The Dunlop-Miller Home)

SAVE 517 Madison St. (The Dunlop-Miller Home)

The Issue

50% of Clarksville, Tennessee's historic buildings, GONE, since 1981. (Clarksville Historic Resources Survey Update--August 2020).  Can you imagine going Downtown, and never seeing The Customs House Museum, The Roxy Theatre, the Cumberland River!  Naming the river sounds extreme, until you realize that Our City survived because of that river; Our City thrives because of its commerce and entertainment value.  Thousands, upon thousands of entertainment-related tourist dollars have been spent here thanks to the filming of movies, TV shows, and music videos.  Legends, the likes of Samuel L Jackson (Against the Wall), Nicole Kidman (Holland, Michigan), Anne Heche (Against the Wall), Kenny Rogers, Clint Black, and Cheryl Crow, have all filmed here and graced Our fare City.

Can you imagine...

Our predecessors built this city; the people have come.  Our City's rich history, architecture, and beauty have brought these famous and everyday people.  If we allow our beautiful, historic and natural, as well as architectural sites, to be demolished and/or defaced, we will lose our identity.  The people will stop coming; families will stop coming.  The Dunlop-Miller Home (built 1915), at 517 Madison St., is begging for your support.  Designed and built by Russel Hart (TN’s Governor’s Mansion, Vanderbilt’s football stadium, permanent structure of the Parthenon, Hermitage Hotel, TN’s 1st international airport).  It is a part of the face of Clarksville and its memories.  It must be allowed to STAND, and be the beacon of hope and prosperity, through commerce, that it represented during our world's greatest, most horrific war (WWI) and thereafter.  29 August 2023 is the vote to demolish or NOT.  We need your help!!  YOUR VOICE MATTERS!!

Can you imagine?
