Red Bank Regional High School students need your support! RBR recently made changes to the 9th grade ELA program. Parents have been voicing concerns about this new curriculum to the RBR Board of Education and the superintendent for more than a year. Currently, many students in the 9th grade are reporting to their parents that they are bored because their classes are not challenging. According to a survey that 9th grade students were given, approximately 15% of 9th graders who completed the survey said that they did not feel challenged. 

The students at RBR deserve better!

With this new curriculum, the superintendent will make a decision to take away the standalone 10th grade honors English classes.  

RBR is the only school in Monmouth County that does not offer its students honors classes in 9th grade.  If 10th grade honors classes are taken away, students at RBR will be at an even greater disadvantage.  RBR needs to be a place where every child has access to an appropriate education. Without 10th grade standalone honors English classes that will not be the case.  A secondary problem is that if the school’s performance goes down, our property values will go down as well.

This issue is EXTREMELY time sensitive because the decision to remove 10th grade honors classes is happening in the coming days!  We need to act NOW and tell the RBR Board of Education, the RBR Superintendent, the Monmouth County Superintendent, the New Jersey School Board Association, and the Commissioner of Education that we want all of our children to receive an appropriate education. We need standalone honors classes in 9th and 10th grade at RBR. Sign this petition and let your voice be heard!
