We did it!

Today is a day worth celebrating.

The City of London’s Community and Children’s Services Committee voted overwhelmingly to continue subsidising the 0–2 childcare provision at The Aldgate School.

This decision is the result of two years of determination, solidarity and an incredible collective effort. Families, staff, school governors, journalists, vocal City Common Councillors, our MP Rachel Blake, the GMB, and our wider community of friends and residents have all stood up and spoken out about why this provision matters.

And it really does matter. It matters to the families who rely on it every day. It matters to our children, who get to grow and learn in a place they know and love. And it matters because The Aldgate School shows what is possible when school-based childcare is properly supported – a model that deserves to be protected and celebrated.

To everyone who has given their time, energy, expertise, voice or donations over the last two years: thank you. We could not have got here without you.

Most of all, we are incredibly grateful that we can now tell our children that they can keep going to this wonderful facility.

Today, we get to celebrate. And today, our children get to stay.
