SAUSD board member, Cecilia "Ceci" Iglesias claims to care about the students, parents, and community of Santa Ana. She claims to be a falcon because she graduated from Valley High. At Valley's graduation on 6/14/16, she praised graduates (including her own niece) for their success and talked about how she was "just like" the Valley students. The following day, she spoke at the Segerstrom graduation ceremony and had this to say: "I went to Valley High School because we didn't have Segerstrom. *chuckle*" Students booed Valley, and she said, "That's the reaction I was hoping for." Ceci is an elected official who is supposed to support all SAUSD schools, yet this is how she she puts schools down. Please sign this petition to tell Ceci and the SAUSD school board that we don't want Ceci at Valley events! We do not need her support at our events when she turns around and puts us down publicly. We need the support of people who actually care about our students and their families, not someone who gives us lip service. We need the support of someone who leads by example and brings unity to the community, not someone who publicly encourages bullying. Instead of criticizing us, Ceci should be bragging about the 5 Gates Millennium Scholarship winners we've had and all of the awards our academies have won. Our Global Business Academy is a National Lighthouse Academy, and the Culinary Arts academy has won several years in a row at the Cooking Up Change Competition. Ceci's comments are sure to have lasting, damaging effects on the Valley community. We must not tolerate behavior like this!
