The students of Satellite high have been faced with new unfair policies set in place by school administration. The policy is regarding tardiness and is extremely unreasonable. First off in prior years, students were given 5 minutes to get to class. The time in between classes was changed to 4 minutes this year. In previous years, they also had a warning bell.This bell was very useful at helping students know it is time to get to class. 5 minutes is needed because the campus is very large and some buildings are very far apart. 5 minutes with a warning bell will also allow students to use the restroom in between classes, eliminating missed class time. Not to mention, this policy is clearly disrespectful towards students with physical disadvantages that may restrict them from getting to class on time, as a brisk walking pace is required in some cases. 
       THE NEW POLICY - students get 1 warning, then get a detention if they are late. They are actively sweeping the halls and enforcing this to the extreme. If students are 5 feet from their class when the bell rings, they are taken away from educational time to the cafeteria, where they are given late slips. The policy is also very dangerous, as it encourages students to run to class, which may cause bodily harm to the student and those around them.

Something must be done about this unfair policy. First off, students should get no less than 5 minutes in between class periods, with a warning bell. We also ask for the removal of the new detention policy, as 2 tardys is an unreasonable policy. Everyone is late some times and punishing students to this extent is not fair. The limit had been set at 5 previously which is fair. This can not go on.
