The Issue

The Camp and Shoe wildfires in Northern Saskatchewan have merged, creating a massive blaze that has already consumed over 216,000 hectares. This ranks among the largest wildfires in Canadian history. Across the province, dozens of wildfires are burning, threatening communities, homes, provincial parks, and critical natural ecosystems.

Saskatchewan has already experienced 208 wildfires in 2025, compared to 165 last year. With 9 fires currently uncontained and over 364,000 hectares burned so far, it's only the beginning of the wildfire season.

Despite the scale of destruction, no Provincial State of Emergency has been declared, and no formal federal assistance appears to have been requested. Meanwhile, exhausted firefighting crews face worsening conditions with limited support, and many across Canada remain unaware of the crisis due to a lack of media coverage.

We call on Premier Scott Moe and the Government of Saskatchewan to:

  1. Declare a Provincial State of Emergency: Mobilize the full scope of available resources to combat this fire effectively.
  2. Request Federal Assistance: Seek help through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre and other national channels.
  3. Communicate Transparently: Establish consistent public updates and clear communication with affected residents.

We urge the government to act now to protect our communities, environment, and future.

Sign now to demand action before it's too late.
