Saskatchewan's separation from Canada
The Issue
Growing up in Saskatchewan, I've witnessed firsthand the recurring sense of frustration and helplessness that so many of us feel when it comes to our political future. Let's face it, our voices often seem overshadowed. Time and again, decisions are made by voters in Ontario and Quebec that determine our fate, with little regard for our unique needs and circumstances. We’ve put up with this inequality since the very birth of our nation.
Saskatchewan contributes richly to Canada’s agricultural and energy sectors, yet it frequently feels like Ottawa isn’t listening to us. Major decisions that impact our livelihoods and our personal freedoms are often dictated by the political dynamics of Eastern Canada. Take gun ownership, for instance—a topic of utmost importance for many in our province. While Saskatchewan has the highest number of guns per capita among major provinces, policies on gun control frequently reflect the preferences of Eastern provinces, rather than our own cultural and practical realities.
Let's consider Saskatchewan determining its own path. We need to have our own autonomy and govern ourselves without outside interference. Perhaps it's time for us to become a separate entity from Canada.
"Saskatchewanites" deserve a fair opportunity taking this bold step towards self-determination. Let’s present a referendum for independence for our province to become separated from Ottawa. A place where we control our own borders, our own gun laws, our own right to defense against crime laws (or lack thereof), and live without federal red tape & restrictions. No more equalization payments, federal income tax, carbon taxes, and environmental taxes, etc. It's time to reshape our future, on our terms, with our values.
Sign this petition to urge our provincial leaders to initiate a referendum on separation from Canada (separation meaning we become our own nation).
