ADVOCATE FOR NATHAN

ADVOCATE FOR NATHAN
The Issue
The most vulnerable in our province need to be protected & us with voices need to make sure that is happening.
Nathan has endured the worst treatment & it is up to us to stand together & make sure this never happens to anyone else.
We are wanting regulations & better policies put into place for those who are taking care of the most vulnerable along with consistency in regular check-in's to all facilities & homes that have the most vulnerable in them.
Including a check in with the individuals living there. Checking in a way that the individuals living in the home or facility can provide feedback without fear of repercussions.
Nathan’s Mother Said -
In May of 2020 we found out that our 20year old son was being physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically abused he was also denied opportunity ( personal belongings taken away for " bad behaviour") and denial of food ( weight-loss of over 100 pounds in 21 months) by his caregiver. Social services and the RCMP both opened abuse cases on the caregiver. We sent in doctor reports of weight-loss, phone logs ( Nathan was not aloud to talk to us if "bad behavior, they would not answer the phone or return calls"), texts between caregiver and myself, voice recording of nathan telling us different abuses that happened to him and pictures of weight-loss comparisons.
Today my family and I were notified by the RCMP that the prosecutor has decided that there was insufficient proof of abuse. Basically the caregivers words against his. To say we are heart broken is an understatement. We feel like the system has failed our son on so many levels!! We have raised our children that there are always consequences for your actions and today the system showed us that is not always the case.
Things need to change. Our son needs to be heard!!! He deserves to be heard.
