I'm not sure how many of you caught the Grand Forks Herald on August 13, 2016 but there was an interesting headline that grabbed my attention; Hawks released: Line forms outside bookstore to sell new UND gear. I thought could this really be true? A line formed to buy merchandise with the new logo on it? I had to click on it and read it. Well the pictures to the story did not come up right away so I read the story to find that NINE paragraphs in there is a small mention of people playing games outside and snapping photos with our beloved and long waited NCAA men's hockey trophy!! And that was about it. When my photos finally did show up, I thought BINGO there was the sign that said the Championship trophy was at the bookstore. Therefore the line was formed, people had a chance, an opportunity to see, touch, take a photo with a trophy that we have been waiting 16 years to bring back to the home of the Fighting Sioux!! Wouldn't a more appropriate title be; A line forms outside the bookstore for a chance to see the Men's Hockey Team NCAA National Championship Trophy. A trophy we have waited 16 years for and it was worth the wait!! It's not rocket science, it's reality. Grand Forks Herald, University of North Dakota and everyone else involved please stop trying to mislead us! We are tired of it. This story more than anything should get people fired up to keep this petition going. Please encourage everyone to sign. School is back in session---share, share and share it some more. As I said in an earlier update if we could all get one more person to sign the petition we would have 12,000 signatures. But wouldn't it be amazing if we could get at least 15,000, the same amount the school felt was sufficient enough to actually choose our new nickname. Let's do this!! It is about more than a nickname or a logo it's about misleading us every step of the way!
