On Friday July 15, 2016 we received a call from the families detained at the Berks County Family Prison. The moms were crying and cheering. Allison and her mom were told to pack their things, that they were leaving. That they were being released. The moms were crying into the phone, "we are so happy!" because what they saw in Alisson and her mom was the hope that they have for own lives, both for themselves as women and for the lives of their children. Immigration at no time notified our office (her attorney) of their decision to release Alisson. They just did it on their own, but be assured it was only because of the pressure of all of you, and the pressure of congress that forced ICE to release her and her mother. It forced them to do the right thing. Allison reached her new home in Texas just one hour ago. Her relative crying in relief, and had nothing but thanks for everyone who fought for them. When i left Alisson at the bus on Friday, she had some advice and some wishes. She wishes that ICE would release all of her friends in Berks, that they do not deserve to be there. She asks that now that she is free, that we move this support to the other children in Berks. We will begin a sister petition to force the release of other children in detention. Some have reached one year of detention. Children. So please look forward to and continue the support for our upcoming petitions for: Joshua, Yeslin, Steven, Ashley and Gary. Five children who have been in detention for just under 1 year. Please continue to follow the stories of children in detention.
