Alisson and her mom are now free and living in peace in the United States free from harm and free from detention. When Alisson left, she reminded me to not forget about her friends in the Berks Family Prison and to help them. So I have continued to fight. Now is your opportunity to help all of these kids. Many of the children in the Berks Family Prison have been detained with their mothers for ONE YEAR. The detention has had devasting effects on their physical and psychological health. Children are not developing and are psychologically scarred, many contemplating suicide. We must help set them free. There is no reason why a mother and child should be stuck in endless detention. They all have families to whom they can be released to pending the decision on their requests for protection. Their detention serves no purpose, and we are harming children for no reason.
