On the 10th of February 2023, South Africans witnessed, through circulated CCTV footages, AKA KIERNAN FORBES BEING MURDERED!!! A man, only identified as a hitman (Inkabi), shot him point blank in the head. AKA dropped dead without even grasping what had happened to him while the 2 hitmen ran off across the street into the night. They had accomplished their mission - ANOTHER MAN DEAD!! The very same street, Florida Road, in Morningside, Durban, is a mobile cop shop. What happened to those cops? What did they do?

If a well known celebrated person like AKA could be so carelessly and easily assassinated in front of cops, the public and a number of witnesses, what chance do we stand as ordinary citizens? Who are YOU?

I am starting this petition in the hopes that there are more South Africans, who are tired of unsolved murders; tired of living in a murder capital, where the police work hand in hand with the criminals.

Just like Kairo Forbes (AKA’s daughter), saw her father as her hero, I saw my father as mine. One day a hitman walked into a house with 6 witnesses, went straight to my father, and shot him in the neck. Unlike AKA, my father had to go through the excruciating pain of knowing what was happening to him. Bleeding, and perhaps losing air, he tried to flee to one of the other rooms in the house, as the hitmen followed him. He shot through the door of one of the rooms that my father had ran into when trying to call an unresponsive emergency number. The hitmen went in and shot, hitting him with another bullet in his hand as God knows how was trying to fight the hitman off. My father finally succumbed to weakness from blood loss. As he dropped to the ground he was shot 3 more times. The next time I saw my father he was in a hospital ER with blood dripping from his neck and bullets through his body.

Although my father survived but became a quadriplegic and 3 years later succumbed to renal failure. He died a very sad man who never knew justice. Despite suspects being provided to the police with motivating statements. All we were left with was the sad memory of his last 3 years, a young single mom of 3 young children (my widowed mother) and the case number of another South African cold case.

How many more of our siblings, fathers, mothers need to die senselessly before perpetrators are brought to book. Is it your father, your uncle or MAYBE YOUR BROTHER OR YOUR SON NEXT? Will he be going to the local super market to buy a loaf of bread  and then gunned down?

We need justice, we need not vote until JUSTICE IS SERVED. Let’s start with AKA’s murder!!

KZN PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER: Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi was at a Newzroom Africa interview before Kiernan was buried, making all sorts of promises, saying that they are analysing footage. WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME? He said interviews are being conducted. WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME? How many arrests have you made? What was the motive? WE DEMAND ANSWERS!

Police Minister Bheki Cele, we don’t even care what you say at this point, in most of our eyes you are the opposite of useful. Always making noise, attending crime scenes all dressed up in your hat making all kinds of promises. Yet with this one, with a smile on your face, you said, “I was not needed.” WOW! Your silence is even louder than your many press interviews.

We need answers from you Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi. We need updates. We refuse to forget. We refuse to move on.

We need justice for South Africans. We need JUSTICE FOR AKA!!
