employees to treat animals correctly to prevent false accusations and for several non-euthanasia shelters to be built
The Issue
Last week, my sister found a pit bull in the park. After calling the animal shelter, she waited for a while and began playing with the dog. she was throwing a ball, and playing fetch. he would jump in my sisters car, and sniff her little minature weenie dog. when the animal control "specialist" arrived, he would not put the leash on AND ASKED MY SISTER TO. what type of animal service specialist doesnt know how to deal with big dog? now, here is when things get emotional. the dog would not leave my sisters side, and was licking for her to take him, but could not because of personal reasons. so, when he was taken away, my sister would call several times in a day and they said that he will go through tests to see if he is sociable in a few days. if not, in 10 days time he would be killed. a few days later, she called and they said he was ok. 6 days (5 business days) after he was taken away, my sister calls back and they said he had been killed. they said he did not get along with other dogs, and was not "sociable". if he wasnt sociable, why would he play with my sister when just meeting her, if he didnt get along with dogs, why did he jump in my sisters car and play with her weenie dog? most of all, my sister showed great interest in the dog, so why didnt they call her to tell her that his time was going to be up, or lie to her and say he had 10 when in fact he had 5. "dogs that do not have ID get killed after 5 days". i think this is a representation on their people at the shelter. obviously the dogs arent comfortable around the people working there. not only was this one dog killed, over 6 more pitbulls are to be killed this week. the dogs shouldnt need to prove their "worth". so why are euthanasia shelters in place?
