Show support for LASD's letter to the Santa Clara County Board of Education

The Issue

Last week, the Los Altos School District Board sent a letter to the Santa Clara County Board of Education, alleging discriminatory practices by Bullis Charter School.  We, the undersigned, wish to show our support for this letter and the actions demanded within.  In particular, we agree that the SCCBoE must:

 • Reject the Exclusionary Los Altos Hills Preference;

• Develop a comprehensive desegregation plan designed to ensure a student population that mirrors the demographics within the LASD boundaries;

• Ensure that the desegregation plan include: transparent lottery conducted by the Santa Clara County Office of Education staff, priority preference for free and reduced lunch students, English Language Learners, special needs students and other underrepresented students, and restricted growth until such time as the discrimination is corrected;

• Hold BCS accountable to the requirements of a school operating in the public school system.

The letter can be read at this link: https://bit.ly/2kFztN2

We are proud of the LASD Board for standing up for what is right for all public school students in our district.

Thank you.
