As many of you are aware, campuses across the country have transitioned from traditional learning methods to an online format due to the global pandemic. This has greatly affected professors and students as well. Many students have been negatively affected by this drastic, but necessary change. This has affected the mental health of students. Also, for those who are not accustomed to an online format for classes, it has been a difficult transition to accommodate. Also, for students who are essential workers, many of our hours have been doubled and it has been difficult to fit in school into our schedules. I am aware that there is an option to get an excused withdraw from a class, however, for many that could affect our financial aid, and be behind in units, etc. Because of the difficulties that have come along with this transition, I am asking the president of SBCC, Dr. Utpal Goswami, to consider having the option of taking a class pass/no pass to help students navigate through this stressful time.
