Sand Spring City Council has voted to tear down the Sand Springs Rodeo arena and discontinue allowing the Sand Springs Round Up Club to use and hold their events and rodeos there.  This is heartbreaking to the rodeo and the horse loving community that already have limited places to exhibit the sport they love.  I myself have four kids that love being involved and coming to the stadium with their horses for play days, as well as coming to watch the rodeos.  The city has said that the area, in the short term, would be torn down to allow for multi- sport use.  This sounds like a big field to me.  Sand Springs has a heritage of rodeos in this arena and there are plenty of citizens that would like to see that tradition continue.  I am hoping that this petition will help communicate how important it is to the people of Sand Springs. We are petitioning the city council to reinstate usage by the Sand Springs Round Up Club of the Sand Springs Rodeo arena beyond the 2017 year.  We are also petitioning reversal of the decision to demolish the rodeo arena.   I am believing that when the city council hears the voice of the people they will reverse their decision and help keep the things in Sand Springs that make it the great town that it is.
