Save the Live-In Warden at Burr Stone Mead Sheltered Housing!

The Issue

We residents of Burr Stone Mead, High St, Swanage are losing our support worker. There has always been a support worker since the scheme was opened in 1991. Without support we are not safe or secure. The government has cut funding for sheltered housing and the costs are being passed onto us.

We moved to Burr Stone Mead precisely because support is available, some of us are vulnerable, disabled and without families to take care of us. Our oldest resident is 99 years. Now we are being left without that support. If one of us became ill with a stroke or heart attack would we ever be found?

Please sign this petition to support the elderly in your community and demand that Sanctuary work together with the local government to find a way to ensure support for the future.

“The warden was the lynchpin in the community life that gave the elderly residents a sense of security and belonging. With that lynchpin removed, this vital national commodity has lost its identity and its purpose.” - Anne Ludlow, secretary, Sheltered Housing UK
