Female wrestling has become such a fast growing sport. The numbers are more than doubling each year. Currently, there are 34 states that have sanctioned female wrestling. With Iowa being the latest. There are girls all over Louisiana who have joined their school's wrestling team. We feel there would be even more, if they knew they would have their own championship at the end of the season. Sanctioning female wrestling will open the door to so many in our state. The wrestling community has already shown the support to females. From the athletes, to coaches, to the parents in the stands, we have witnessed the support first hand. Our daughter is a first time wrestler this season for her 9th grade year. Although, she is given the same opportunities as her male teammates, she will always be at a disadvantage. If she wins against a male athlete, great on her. If she loses against a male athlete, great on her for just being there to compete. She deserves to compete on a fair platform.  She and all females in the state deserve to have an equal opportunity to win their own titles and championships. Colleges are now offering scholarships for female wrestlers. This will give more athletes opportunities to attend college.  Wrestling is an outlet for most of these females. It is a way to be a part of something outside the norm. We are asking for your support to help us get Louisiana to sanction female wrestling. Give them their own sport. We are currently taking the steps to get this put in front of our state association for vote. Lets not be the last state to show we care about our female athletes. Thanks for your time.
