IT’S TIME TO SANCTION BOYS VOLLEYBALL IN UTAH!

EXPONENTIAL GROWTH 

Boys have been playing volleyball in Utah for over 30 years and participation has exploded exponentially under the organization of the Utah Boys Volleyball Association (UBVA).  In 2015, UBVA’s inaugural year, 24 teams competed in the Fall AAU club season.  Now, just six years later, there are 56 teams in boys Fall club!  Currently, 100+ boys volleyball teams represent over 60 schools in high school leagues across the state – from Logan to St. George. Interest has also been fueled by the success of the BYU Men’s Volleyball Program which has consistently placed among the top five collegiate teams in the nation over the last 10 years.

WORKING WITH UHSAA 

Even though Girls Volleyball has been an official high school sport for over three decades, boys still do not have the opportunity to play for their high schools under the UHSAA umbrella.  However, Boys Volleyball has overwhelmingly qualified as a UHSAA emerging sport for the last two years based on participation numbers, and it has also consistently met UHSAA’s additional criteria for sanctioning. On November 18, 2021 UBVA will submit another request to UHSAA to present Boys High School Volleyball for consideration in anticipation of a favorable sanctioning vote later in March of 2022.

Please sign this petition calling for the sanctioning of Boys High School Volleyball as a legitimate sport in Utah.  Support boys who play volleyball so they may have equal opportunity and receive the same validation, benefits, and recognition that other deserving athletes enjoy in their schools.
