Save Thor's Life!

The Issue

Please help us save Thor!

Thor is a male 10 month old Shepherd mix who resides in Foster City, California and is scheduled to be put down by Thursday, September 17th if we do not work to save his life.

As a current resident of Foster City, I feel before you sign this petition you should hear why he has been labeled a "vicious animal" by San Mateo County Health. Here is the story as my family and I witnessed: Thor was playing in the front yard with his owner when he got loose when unsuspecting neighbors were walking by with their baby stroller. Now, for those who don't have dogs, a 70lb dog may be intimidating which is why the man involved in the incident may have chose to run or be nervous. In this case Thor chased and because his owner became nervous thought she was threatened. After the man threw a large boulder at the Thor, he bit his leg (this part of the story is up for debate - whether he was bit before the rock or after). My dad and I intervened so that the two bystanders could walk away and we put Thor away back in the front yard. This was the first time we met Thor and he had his tail between his legs and was not in any way aggressive towards us. We were able to calmly put him away and did not even notice the man was bit until much later when pictures were posted. I know that any dog that may show aggression towards someone is scary, but I do not see Thor being inherently vicious or aggressive. His family is dedicated to him, we have seen the constant walks that he goes on but we understand that some Shepherd mixes may be more skeptical and need further training. Especially with COVID, clearly Thor could use more assimilation to people, but how is that his fault.

To make matters worse, Thor's family is distraught not only because he has been taken from them and is in the custody of the San Mateo County, but also the head of household and patriarch has been diagnosed with a terminally ill disease and does not have much longer to live. I could only imagine what they are going through with the thought of losing two family members.

Thor is still a puppy and has so many years left where he can learn and be rehabilitated. Please sign this petition and make a difference in Thor's life and that of his family's because ultimately we are all neighbors and in this together.
