Save the Middlebrook Center Gardens

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,500!

We request that you sign this petition during the next 48 hours in order for our work to continue and to keep the property from being bulldozed. If you don’t act now, our work will cease as all our programs involve the gardens and 200 sustainable land use innovations we have built here at 76 Race Street. The 8,000 students and neighbors that we teach each year about sustainable urban land use to solve the climate change crisis will not be able to learn from this almost 20 year old ecologically centered urban garden. Please act now to support us and help us form a plan to buy this land so that our work can continue.

By signing this petition you also show community support of our larger vision of the gardens within the context of the entire block at Race Street. We envision a 4 acre Sustainable Urban Land Use Institute with low-income housing in addition to preserving the garden at Race Street. This would become the center in which other cities and towns in Santa Clara County can learn to build their own low-income eco-neighborhoods as a part of our Build 25x25 (http://cngf.org/build-25/) network of urban agriculture and ecologically sustainable, community centered sites.

You can also further your support by contributing money towards buying the land currently owned by our landlord at our GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-the-gardens-at-76-race-st-in-san-jose-ca), serving on our California Native Garden Foundation Board, speaking out at the Planning Commission meeting on July 24th, 6:30 pm, or finding more than one solution to purchase our landlord’s property to allow us to continue our programs at 76 Race Street. San Jose. Please contact cngf.org@gmail.com for questions, comments, concerns, or if you would like to serve on our Board.
