Help Grammy Stay At Home

The Issue

Please help us by supporting our home renovation.  It is designed to allow Lola, a beautiful 89 year old mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor in the community, to live out her years at home with her family.

As members of the sandwich generation, we are raising a pre-teen boy and caring for an aging parent.  Our current setup is cramped and outdated. Here's what we want to do to allow three generations of San Franciscans live under one roof:

1)      Expand our cramped home to provide more space for a family with a pre-teen  and grandmother who is aging and losing mobility.

2)      Renovate steep stairs, widen narrow hallways and create a more accessible bathroom.

That's it.

Please help us continue the tradition of multi-generational housing by letting Lola age gracefully at home surrounded by the people she loves by supporting our home renovation. This will include wheelchair accessible hallways, larger bathrooms and an elevator that will allow her to enjoy full and equal access to her home.

Currently our home has a very small footprint- we are the shortest, narrowest house on the block. We are not even asking to expand are property as much as we could or as much as our neighbors already have.

Without this renovation, our family will be forced to leave the City _ or move Lola into a facility.

Please, help Lola spend her remaining days with her family by signing this petition to the Planning Department. Please tell city officials that the City needs to support hardworking, middle-class families with special needs to retain San Francisco's unique sense of community.
