Study Beatty Road as the only option for the Geneva Harney Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line

The Issue

The Geneva Harney Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line is a proposed new Muni route that could run up to 10 buses per hour in each direction to connect Balboa Park BART to the new Candlestick Point and Hunters’ Point Shipyard developments. The San Francisco County Transportation Agency (SFCTA) is the lead agency.

In order to accommodate this new BRT line, the SFCTA is proposing significant changes to Blanken and Lathrop Avenues, including elimination of street parking, conversion to one way streets, and narrowing of sidewalks. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Beatty Road, just south of the county line in Brisbane, has not been seriously considered by the SFCTA. This route would provide direct service to the Caltrain Bayshore station, which a route through Little Hollywood would not. A BRT route along Blanken and Lathrop will destroy the residential character of Little Hollywood.
