What is a cafe without a food license? The City wants to revoke Cafe Chanta's food license only because hookah was being served in the cafe; it is purely a punitive measure, and one which would destroy the business and thus the owner's livelihood. Such a penalty is grossly disproportionate to the infraction. It is bad for business, bad for customers, and bad for the City.

The cafe was originally without hookah, and is currently in the process of separating the hookah business from the food/drink business. This takes time.

We ask the Board, in considering appeal number 12-099, to overturn the revocation and thus allow the cafe time to finish changing its business model and survive in this tight economy.
