Petition to Support SDUSD Maintaining Agreements with GPA’s On-loan Staff for the Life of the Charter as Promised and Stated in the Original Charter Agreement

Family and Community, we need your help!  Keep Gompers Preparatory Academy (GPA) the independent, college-going school that it has become since 2005.  Do not allow the San Diego Unified School District to turn back GPA’s 15 years of success.  Before GPA was an independent Charter School, it was a failing, district school plagued with high suspension and drop-out rates, low attendance, low test scores, high teacher turnover, and gang violence. It was a school-to-prison pipeline. SDUSD plans to reverse the on-loan agreements that originally placed Director Riveroll, Assistant Director Lisa Maples, Judith Franceschi, and Paz Garcia Ramirez at GPA for the life of the charter. Now they are being forced to cut ties with SDUSD or return to the district. WITH YOUR SUPPORT, WE WILL KEEP GPA’S FOUNDERS IN PLACE, CONTINUING THE CRITICAL WORK THEY ARE DOING FOR OUR COMMUNITY.
