Stop the closure of Diego Valley East Charter

Stop the closure of Diego Valley East Charter
The Issue
In recent years Diego Valley East and other charters; schools that provide students of all ages and in particular adult students ages 18 and up the opportunity to get their High School diploma, have been threatened by Grossmont Union High School district by two lawsuits back to back. The recent lawsuit was lost which resulted in an order by the judge to close 3 of the charters by June 28th. This will not only displace both teachers and staff out of their jobs, which will reach hundreds of people unemployed but will also affect 1500 students, again most of which are adults and are unable to return to Grossmont district due to their age. Grossmont Union High School District is robbing thousands of students of their education. Everybody needs to stand up for school choice because we should not be forced to go to a traditional school and should be allowed to attend a school that is flexible, inclusive and welcoming. These charters offer one on one teaching which has allowed students to do better and thrive in their studies. Without the opportunity to go to Diego Valley East, I myself would have not graduated with my senior class at Valhalla High School. The systems in these traditional high schools that Grossmont district offer are not designed to help students graduate and ultimately as a former student, I did not feel as if there was a concern if students graduated or not. Please sign and help stop the closure of these schools in which their main goal is to educate and support students in any way they can.
