It is Time to Push for Rent Control @ City Hall!!! We have amassed 11,000 signed petitions for City Council and the Mayor to implement Rent Control in San Diego. We will be presenting at the Smart Growth and Land Use Committee and we will continue to lead the discussion against displacement in San Diego. We need a large community presence to help push for an emergency Rent Control Ordinance. We have recently witnessed Beverly Hills, Alameda and Santa Cruz use urgency ordinance procedures to strengthen or put an emergency Rent Control, Just Cause Protections and Relocation Assistance ordinance in place. San Diego is even falling behind National City, who is pushing for Rent Control. We hope that the NC coalition follows our lead and assist us in pressuring San Diego City Council Leaders to put this emergency solution up for a vote so that we can get Rent Control and put up a serious fight against displacement! Join us for a day of protest, leading up to the committee meeting and then join us for a day of heated debate, as we make a Rent Control presentation to the SG&LU committee and hear from the community about rising rents.
