DEADLY DEVORE - this is what I have called this shelter for as long as I can remember.

I would love to say that this video is shocking but those of us rescuing from DEVORE, sadly know that it’s the daily reality for these animals. It’s beyond barbaric and for it to exist in one of the richest states in the US is unforgivable. What’s even worse is that this is not a new situation! This shelter has been like this for as long as I can remember. 

Where are all of the rich and the elite - why are they not using their voices, their money and their fame to exact change? 

Where are the residents who live here and vote? Only you can change this. There have been so many horror stories associated with Devore and those running it. It’s a hell hole for animals and making the majority of animals “rescue only” for minor transgressions is ridiculous and unfair. If a dog growls in fear; automatically labeled unable to handle and rescue only. It’s a joke. 100% of the RESCUE ONLY animals that I have rescued from Devore are able to be handled. All of them.  

This shelter makes it so difficult for rescues to actually rescue the high percentage of RESCUE ONLY DOGS by not answering or responding to emails; not spay and neutering; not giving rabies shots and microchipping; not allowing rescues to TAG an animal, forcing rescues to just show up for an animal they want to help and hope their time making a plan, securing a foster, a vet appointment and sending a puller is not for nothing because another rescue beat you there. 

The cost of vet care, lack of donations, people NOT honoring pledges, adoption rates dropping, etc., make rescues choose what animals they can afford to help. 

California and San Bernardino County needs to do better.
