Help at risk urgent Texas Dogs at "San Antonio Pets Alive" and "ACS". They need more time!

The Issue

People are working countless hours to help SAPA find these dogs homes posted on their "SAPA Urgents and Adoptables, "Facebook site, People are volunteering their time and some whom work at SAPA are staying awake at night worrying and networking these dogs.  These dogs deserve the gift of time. There are rules that need to be followed and they need to give people time to contact/email them.  The next dog they put to sleep could be the forever pup YOU'VE been looking for.  I know space is limited, but they have to find a way to keep these dogs up for adoption longer and give us time to network the ones being euthanized for that day before taking the easy way out and sticking a needle in them to stop their hearts and then carrying their bodies out in a trash bag. Dogs are not to be thrown out like garbage.  We need to stand up and be a voice for these dogs.  They want to live and their life matters.

There are 100+ dogs posted and sometimes there can be up to 10 or more dogs released at the same time in one day or at any given time on their FB site. "Released" means that the dogs are at risk and have physically been moved from the transition holding area to the EBI area. There is generally about 10 minutes between the time the email is sent out and when the dog is euthanized. If you want any of these animals then it is IMPERATIVE that you EMAIL ASAP to tag them before it is too late if it is not already. They pick the dog(s) to be euthanized and only allow them minutes for someone to foster, adopt or rescue them. The dogs status says "Please help!! This dog is past deadline and is being released to euthanasia!!" Once this has been posted the dog(s) literally have a very short window to be saved when it reaches this area.  I think they should post the dogs for that day early in the morning so everyone can view them and have ALL DAY to get those certain dogs placed.  To only have a short timeframe to find a placement is ridiculous.  It takes longer to network the dog(s) and bring everyone's attention to that particular dog who's life is on the line for that given day.  Especially if you tagging your friends or rescue groups and they are busy working and don't see the tag until it's too late.  They sometimes post all the dogs at one time and everyone is in a panic trying to network them all at one time from what I've seen. Many times they find someone willing to adopt, foster or rescue but by the time the email/phone call reaches SAPA it's too late due to the short time limits being given by ACS.

I would like to see funding for ACS to become a "No Kill Shelter" all together.  But to somehow find more time for these precious, loving dogs is the goal of the petition. I'm trying to accomplish more time being allowed once the dogs status has changed to "Released" Status on the SAPA Urgents & Adoptables site. By announcing the dogs earlier in the day, this gives us more opportunity to network and find placement through out the day. The policy needs to be more flexible to allow more time and give them until the end of the business day to find placement. This is crucial and my focus is to bring attention to this.

Please help out San Antonio Pets Alive and foster, adopt or pledge to help these dogs be saved by a rescue group if your are able to. You can pledge any amount of money to attract a rescue group on a particular dog your willing to put money towards located on their thread with their picture. Even if you live out of state you can save or adopt one of these dogs.  Pick out a dog/puppy and ask questions on the thread if you're interested in fostering, which is free!  I have found many people can transport these dogs to other parts of Texas and out of state, some with a transportation fee.  SAPA can give helpful information on transportation methods.
