There are currently over 340 registered sex offenders living in San Angelo.  The city does not have any statutes regulating where sex offenders may or may not live.  These offenders have the same access as the rest of us to school property, parks, playgrounds, day care centers, public swimming pools, and any other areas in which children frequent without restrictions. I would like to see this changed!   The Department of Public Safety requires a sex offender to register in the Texas Sex Offender Registration Program and report annually to local law enforcement, but it is up to the city to establish Child Safety Zones.  My goal is to show the City Council that we are serious regarding this issue and would like for them to take further action in developing the necessary ordinances to keep our children safe.
