Justice for Kim Le, a Vietnamese American citizen

The Issue

My mother Kim Le received harassment and discrimination from a customer and also a worker and manager Mike Blankenship from Sam's Club #6615 in Fountain Valley, CA. This happened March 22,2020 around 10:30am. Kim Le waited in the line to enter Sam's Club which ran along one side of the building. All of a sudden, the woman in front of Kim falsely accused Kim of cutting the line and began yelling at Kim.

Kim tried to explain she merely took a few steps out to graba nearby shopping cart and went back into line. The man behind Kim even made space for her to get back into the line . The woman refused to listen and harassed Kim the whole time they waited in line.

When they got to the front of the entrance, the store check-in clerk and manager refused to listen to my mom's explanation. They grabbed her cart away and when my mom begged them to watch their cameras and see that she did nothing wrong, the manager Mike lied and said there are no camera. He then called the police on my 52 year old mother, threatened to have her thrown in jail and refused to give his name when my sister came to figure out the situation.

My mother has hearing impairment, PTSD, and language barrier issues. She is emotionally distraught from this traumatic experience. She has trouble sleeping and still breaks down crying from being treated as a second class citizen. She's been in the US for almost 4 decades and has never been in trouble with the law. All she wants is justice for the mistreatment and discrimination she experienced from these poor excuses of representatives of a national brand.

The store check in clerk and manager Mike Blankenship need to be fired for this horrible treatment of a loyal customer with disabilities. Sam's club needs to provide training across the board on correct customer treatment and sensitivity training.
