Do Not Use Santa Teresa VTA Station As RV Parking Lot

Do Not Use Santa Teresa VTA Station As RV Parking Lot
The Issue
Mayor Sam Liccardo and the San Jose City Council want to move at least 100 RVs from the homeless encampment at the Guadalupe River Park in downtown San Jose to Santa Teresa VTA station Park & Ride which is surrounded by a residential area as well as businesses, parks and schools. This is not just unfair but of no benefit to our community. Having over 100 RVs parked at Santa Teresa VTA will impact quality of life and devalue our properties. The Santa Teresa VTA is located very close to Santa Teresa Elementary School.
Businesses around the airport where the RV encampment currently is located have reported increases in crimes, trash, graffiti and vandalism and all of that is coming into our neighborhood.
A better solution would be to find a lot for the RVs closer to their current location. Another solution would be to use the SCC Fairgrounds parking lot for this purpose. There is no need to send these RVs into district 2 from another district.
District 2 is already hosting two bridge housing locations (tiny homes) and the city is also working on a Homekey project for this area (a 150 unit hotel located a few blocks away on San Ignacio Avenue). Not to mention our community is also hosting multiple large illegal homeless encampments that have been active for years.
Do not use District 2 to solve the homelessness problems of all San Jose; we are not a dumping ground for homeless from other districts. We already have our fair share of homeless people that have not been helped. We are a family oriented community and deserve to be treated with respect. We are not the "path of least resistance" in San Jose.
